I am curious-i log on and see a gazillion people logged on, but little new posting- other than Will, some days.

what is everyone's style here, concerning posting on this board.?..it seems like many are "lurkers", ready to pounce on random posts, some are willing victims/ posters of really dumb things, and others are one-uppers.

i was considering posting something about turd shapes and consistencies (out of boredom), but held back, given that it might gross some people out.

I log on and check the New Posts counter in the corner and hit all of them to see what's of interest. I respond off of those.

Likewise--I reply if I've got something to add.

Um...yeah, let's NOT post that topic.

My story is typical:

I'm a lonely, internet-attention whore who will do anything to avoid actual work. I keep a window open on the index page of the forum all day and F5 to find new posts. Then I post wisecracks and asides in a misguided attempt to be appreciated before I die.

I'm a stream of conciousness poster. This shit keeps me from working, so it's all good.

Also, I am beginning to think we should have a "No Holds Barred" forum (moderated by Lynch and AngryEd, ): a forum in which nothing is off limits/taboo. Your poop thread would be at home there. It wouldn't be a public thread, mind you, it would be a members only thread. That way, those with delicate constitutions (big pansies) could stay away and not get the vapors.

After RandomBS the next 2 biggest forums are both Usergroup subscribed: Sports, of which you are a member, and Warhammer 40K, of which you care very little. So remember that for every post you read in Sports there's another post you're not reading about fraley not painting his models.

I would totally wear a Members Only jacket. Maybe I could get one with the Radiant Arkham logo on it.

I can't believe that the Portuguese Lothario doesn't paint his 40K guys. Man, real nerds paint their miniatures!

Hey!

Other stuff goes on in there too! Like me endlessly prevaricating over my final army list!

...and don't forget interminable rules debate.

To get OT: I am a lurker on most boards of whose content I am ignorant. I read every monster league post, for instance, not because I give a shit about fantasy baseball, but because your guys are such hilarious cautionary examples of humanity.

Specific, hobby related forums I use as organization tools and will respond more readily. I don't post new topics very often.

This explains your meteoric ascent to 1,000 posts despite the fact that you joined 6 months after the founding members.

I tip my cap to you...

...or rather I disparage you for having no Cool Thing between your mind and your keyboard.

In case you haven't gathered, I use this forum mostly to hate on people. Once in a rare while I'll post something interesting I found on the web.

OK, I will take a vacation from the forums for a month or two.

(I think I have set myself up for enough homoerotic ribbing today.)

Except RJ...and Will.
Mostly just Will tho.

OMG, abuse of power.

I am posting more today because my work load is currently driving me batty. When you start wishing that Excel could function in four dimensions, it's time for a break.

Your abuse of power will be your undoing Darth Sullivan.

Besides, everyone knows that I don't say 'tho'.

OK, I will take a vacation from the forums for a month or two.

If you quit now, the terrorists win. As do the morbid gamers who are trying to kill me off in my "should I eat this" thread.

If I hit a million posts can I win a custom Rank? I'm thinking "Your Ship's Bartender" or "Bilge Rat" would be sweet.

Wow, 11 people on now.

My posting style is probably best described as 'inebriated.' I am rarely 6 hours from being legally allowed to drive.

In a way, you kind of can get Excel to function in 4 dimensions, depending on what exactly you're trying to do.

If Brett leaves, I leave. We'll create our own forums, dedicated to the discussion of roasted vegetables, sabermetrics and learning life lessons.

That sounds like fun, but can we have a section dedicated to trying to gross people out? like A2M++
